You can’t do that !

On Saturday 15th August a group of seven people - four of whom have Parkinson’s and one who is eight years old officially launched NLPD Walking Club by taking on the challenge of Moel Fammau - one of North Wales under estimated and beautiful walks. Sitting on the Flintshire Denbighshire boundary , the highest hill in the Clwyddian Range at over 550m high and an hours’ drive from Liverpool and Manchester. My football years taught me many things about teamwork and camaraderie and I see great parallels between my football family and NLPD. We prepared , we encouraged , teamwork was the strength when our legs tired but we did the job - and then we sang , we laughed , we were given nicknames - ( thanks Poppy ! ) and we relived it over a pint .

When I told some friends of our plans last week they said “ you can’t do that , what if ......

I replied “ you don’t know these people- they don’t know what can’t means because every day they live by turning can’t do into have done “

Thanks to Annie for making the journey and for bringing the wisdom rucksack , to Keith for showing the determination which would make him the first name on any teamsheet, to Marc,Jemma and the lovely Poppy for reminding us that togetherness is at the root of everything and finally to Tracy for being everything I need x

If you read this and want to join us then contact us right now - experience this and our other activities which help make Parkinson’s a part of your life not its centre
